This large leaded came panel was broken into two pieces and had numerous pieces of glass that needed to be replaced. It also had the outside zinc came replaced.
This very heavy stained glass lamp had many broken and cracked pieces. This was an older lamp so it took a while to find the replacement glass.
This leaded came panel had more than half the pieces cracked. It had to be taken apart and remade using new glass that matched and new lead came. The outside zinc came also had to be replaced.
Restore versus Repair
When a panel or window is restored it is sometimes completely taken apart and put back together using the way it was originally constructed which is either copper foil or lead came. New glass is used if any pieces are cracked and broken. When repairing stained glass we try and use glass that looks exactly like what had been used if we can find it.
Repairing is fixing just what seems to be the problem. New zinc frames can be put on the panel and hooks can be soldered on in addition.
It does make a difference in price if it is made using the copper foil method or using zinc came.
If the stained glass is very old sometimes it is very hard to match the glass that was used. We do our best to find the same glass but if we cant we find something that is very close to what was originally used.
This window that was in a door was cracked. It was taken out the door frame and the cracked piece of clear glass was replaced with a new piece which matched exactly. It has made using lead came. When an inside piece of glass is cracked it is very time consuming to fix because you need to carefully remove that piece without disturbing the pieces surrounding it.
This is a lamp that had a cracked piece of glass and the frame was bent in numerous places. I found the same type of glass and cut it to the right dimensions. I fixed the frame where it was bent. This was a straight piece of glass. It is very hard to find someone who can fuse a curved piece of glass to the right size.
DEVA
This window had a broken piece of glass along the bottom that was replaced.
We also fix a lot of small personal items. This angel christmas tree topper needed the wing resoldered and a piece of glass replaced. The bottom also needed to be resoldered.
